Since establishment, Blue Orb has played a pivotal role in providing technology to support environmental projects such as the Bank of New Zealand Kiwi Recovery Trust, Kakapo Recovery, and KiwiLife. Blue Orb is dedicated to enabling a greater understanding of the world’s environment and culture through the use of new technology.

A major Blue Orb project is Ko Tenei Te Wahi - This is the Place – a community, web-based project seeking to preserve cultural history, and provide an educational resource to assist in the cultural, historical and technological learnings of the people of New Zealand.
